Radio Galaxy Classification: #Tags, Not Boxes

نویسندگان

چکیده

After six decades of studying radio galaxies, we are now delightfully overwhelmed by their exponentially expanding numbers and the complexity structures. Similarly, methods use to classify galaxies have exploded, often resulting in conflicting terminology, ambiguous classifications, historical schemes that may or not match our current physical understanding. discussions with more than 100 astronomers over last several years listening ideas aspirations, I propose reconceptualize classification galaxies. Instead trying place them into “boxes”, should assign #tags, a system is easy understand apply, flexible evolving, can accommodate respect what relevant important. Here, outline basis such #tag system; rest up community.

Passive active radio frequency identification tags

This paper describes the Passive Active RFID Tag (PART). The first innovation is an automated method to generate RFID tag controllers based on high-level descriptions of a customised set of RFID primitives. We are capable of targeting microprocessor-based or custom hardware-based controllers. The second innovation is a passive burst switch front-end to the active tag. This switch reduces power ...

Unique Identification of Radio Frequency Identification Tags

Radio Frequency Identi cation (RFID) tags are used in credit cards and passports for automatic identity recognition and expense transfers as well as throughout the supply chain to track inventory. The unauthorized electronic reproduction of these RFID signals is easily performed despite the use of developed encryption methods and can lead to critical security breaches and lost inventory. A meth...

The Microjansky Radio Galaxy Population

We use highly spectroscopically complete observations of the radio sources from the VLA 1.4 GHz survey of the Hubble Deep Field-North region to study the faint radio galaxy population and its evolution. The fraction of radio sources that can be optically spectroscopically identified is fairly independent of radio flux, with about 60−80% identified at all fluxes. We spectrally classify the sourc...

Topical tags vs non-topical tags: Towards a bipartite classification?

In this paper we investigate whether it is possible to create a computational approach that allows us to distinguish topical tags (i.e. talking about the topic of a resource) and non-topical tags (i.e. describing aspects of a resource that are not related to its topic) in folksonomies, in a way that correlates with humans. Towards this goal, we collected 21 million tags (1.2 million unique term...
